# Serum 2 Questions

**What about preset compatibility?**

* **Serum 1 presets** are fully compatible with **Serum 2**, and your Serum 1 presets will automatically be shown in Serum 2's preset browser.
* **Serum 2 presets** cannot be loaded in **Serum 1**.

**Will my ratings transfer from Serum 1 to Serum 2?** Yes! **Ratings** applied to Serum 1 presets will be transferred over to Serum 2 the first time you launch Serum 2.

**Do I need Serum 1 if I upgrade to Serum 2?**

* **Serum 1 wavetables and noise files** are provided in Serum 2, so if you don't need Serum 1 anymore, you can move your presets to the Serum 2 preset folder and remove the Serum 1 preset folder.

**Can I keep using Serum 1 after upgrading?**

Yes! After activating your Serum 2 update, you can continue using **Serum 1**. Both versions can be installed simultaneously, but we strongly encourage you to migrate to Serum 2. **Serum 1** has reached **end-of-life**, and no more updates, fixes, or new features will be added to it. Serum 2 also uses **less CPU** than Serum 1.
